Exhibitions @ Electric Palace
Janruary - February 2004 Greg Rook
Where cinema is peticuliar, is in its figuration of in between moments, moments between the action or significant elements of the story (Morgan Freeman parks his car and runs up the steps of the library). In reality these between moments occupy the majority of our time. We might imagine a soundtrack playing as we walk, but in all likelihood our next scene will be as banal as the last. Greg Rookasked a photographer to follow him for several days and directed him in capturing these moments. He then painted on top of digital prints of these images in order to try and cinematise them, in order to try and deal with the disappointment he felt in how his life really looked.
